Somnatrol is an herbal sleeping supplement developed by Sterling Grant Laboratories. Somnatrol contains Somnazide, which allegedly helps to increase better sleep by reducing stress and anxiety before going to bed.
Somnatrol herbal pills assist with difficulty in falling asleep and occasional nocturnal awakenings on a short-term basis. Please note: the Somnatrol being reviewed by the Product-Critic team is not the pharmaceutical-grade benzodiazepine product.

One bottle of Somnatrol contains 60 tablets, what would equate to a two month supply for consumers with serious sleeping problems. For those of us who only suffer from a night or two a week of poor sleep, one bottle of Somnatrol should last a reasonably longer length of time.
For the purposes of our study, the test panel volunteers were requested to take one tablet of Somnatrol orally only ten minutes before going to bed, as Somnatrol claims to be a "fast-acting" sleep aid. Our volunteers were also requested to ingest Somnatrol each night for 14 consecutive days, to determine whether or not there was an overall improvement in the quality of their sleep - in addition to a night-by-night evaluation.
For the most part, the Product-Critic test panel volunteers seemed satisfied with Somnatrol, aside from the product's unpleasant smell. Somnatrol's peak benefit is that it does not cause grogginess or exhaustion in the morning, as reported by 46 of the 60 product survey volunteers.
However, over 30% of our consumer volunteers reported that one pill of Somnatrol was not sufficient to put them to sleep. Some had to take 2 or even 3 pills in one night for the supplement to take effect, and even then, a select few still reported that they were unable to maintain sound and uninterrupted sleep. This product also showed minimal effectiveness for person with chronic to severe insomnia.
Somnatrol is a tablet taken orally to induce sleep before going to bed. The ingredient list for Somnatrol is as follows:
The ingredients contained in Somnatrol's formula are quite typical for any sleep supplement. Most supplements contain a combination of 5-HTP, valerian root, melatonin, and chamomile flower, which are the key sedative components in herbal sleep remedies.
After reviewing the consumer feedback for our test panel for Somnatrol, Product-Critic has decided to rate Somnatrol as a Tentative Buy, since this product is fine for mild restless or trouble falling asleep, but is mostly ineffective for insomniacs and consumers with more severe sleeping disorders.
An additional setback to using Somnatrol as your sleep aid of choice is the product's strong and unpleasant order, which was a major con for the Product-Critic consumer test panel volunteers.
